Sherley’s Farm

The farm is situated about seven miles from Deal at St Margaret’s at Cliffe. It’s run by Sherley Davis and her husband, Paul, who warmly welcome several of our clients twice a week to experience working life outdoors. As in any farm, there’s lots to do and enjoy: painting, gardening and, most importantly, caring for livestock—ponies, goats, geese, ducks, hens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

The atmosphere is relaxed and the therapeutic pleasure of working with animals is enjoyed even in the rain, but especially when the sun shines! Transport to the farm is available if required.                      [Return to Day Services]

Leaps and Bounds

At Leaps & Bounds we provide true-life work placements for the learning disabled. There they are taught all aspects of shop management: serving customers, using the till, displaying goods, stock taking and so on.

Furthermore, part of the premises is set aside as a workshop where clients learn to create items to sell over the counter. Each item is signed and the proceeds go to its creator. This positive, pro-active approach to work experience strengthens self esteem and gives new purpose to lives.

The opportunity for many of our clients to experience a working environment is an integral and important part of our care provision. Regrettably, there are limited places where a person with learning disabilities can be appropriately and successfully employed. The few that do exist are a boon—and our craft shop in Deal’s High Street is dedicated to this end...
